2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically by our web hosting provider and analytics tools:
- Server logs: Your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, the date and time of your visit, and the website that referred you. These are standard records kept by virtually every website.
- Google Analytics data: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics collects information such as your IP address (anonymized), browser, device, pages viewed, time on site, and similar usage patterns. We use this only to improve the Site. Google’s own privacy practices govern this data — see Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Email engagement data: We use FluentCRM, an email management tool installed on our own WordPress server, to send transactional emails to active subscribers (Guide updates, change summaries, and renewal reminders). FluentCRM records whether emails are delivered, opened, and clicked. This data is stored on our own infrastructure and is not shared with any third party. We use it only to confirm that important communications are reaching subscribers.
- Cookies: See Section 6 below.
2.3 What We Do Not Collect
We do not knowingly collect:
- Information from children under 18 (the Guide is intended for business and professional use);
- Sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, government IDs, health records, or biometric data;
- Payment card numbers (these go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our systems).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for limited, specific purposes:
- Fulfilling your order — sending you the Guide, generating your license, providing receipts;
- Delivering updates — emailing updated versions of the Guide and change summaries to active subscribers, as described in the License Terms;
- Renewal reminders — emailing 30-day and 7-day renewal reminders before your subscription expires;
- Customer support — responding to questions, refund requests, and license-related issues;
- Tax and accounting records — keeping the records we are legally required to keep;
- Improving the Site — using aggregated, non-identifying analytics data to understand which content is most useful;
- Legal compliance — complying with applicable laws, responding to valid legal process, and protecting our rights.
We do not use your information for behavioral advertising, profile-building, or sale to third parties.
4. Who We Share Information With
We share information only with the service providers we need to operate the business, and only the information necessary for them to do their job. Each of these providers has its own privacy practices, which we encourage you to review.
| Provider | What They Receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Name, billing address, email, payment information | Processing your payment |
| Our web host | All Site data, including form submissions and server logs | Hosting the Site |
| Google (Analytics) | Anonymized usage data | Site analytics |
We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or valid legal process; if necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Throughline Training, our customers, or others; or in connection with a sale or transfer of business assets, in which case we will notify affected customers and require the recipient to honor this Privacy Policy.
We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, marketing companies, or any third party for their own commercial purposes.
5. How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy:
- Active subscriber records — kept for the duration of your subscription and for as long as you remain a customer;
- Purchase and tax records — kept for at least seven (7) years to comply with federal and Minnesota tax recordkeeping requirements;
- Server logs — typically kept for 30–90 days by our hosting provider;
- Email correspondence — retained for as long as needed to provide ongoing support, generally up to three (3) years after the last interaction;
- Google Analytics data — retained according to Google’s default settings (currently 14 months for user-level data).
6. Cookies
The Site uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — for these purposes:
- Essential cookies: Required for the Site and shopping cart to work (e.g., remembering items in your cart during checkout). These cannot be disabled without breaking core Site functionality.
- Analytics cookies: Set by Google Analytics to track Site usage. These are not strictly necessary, and you can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out tool linked in Section 2.2 or by adjusting your browser’s cookie settings.
Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. Blocking all cookies may prevent some Site features from working properly.
7. Your Rights
Regardless of where you live, you have the following rights regarding your personal information held by Throughline Training:
- Access — you can ask what personal information we have about you;
- Correction — you can ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Deletion — you can ask us to delete your information, subject to legal recordkeeping obligations (such as tax records);
- Opt-out of communications — you can ask us to stop sending you renewal reminders or other non-essential communications. We will continue to send essential transactional emails (such as receipts and update notifications) for as long as you have an active subscription.
To exercise any of these rights, email al.dreumont@throughlinetrng.com. We will respond within thirty (30) days.
If you are a resident of California, the European Union, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy laws, you may have additional rights under those laws. Contact us and we will honor any rights you are entitled to under applicable law.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption on the Site, strong account passwords, and limited access to systems containing personal data. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant.
No system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify affected customers and applicable authorities in the event of a data breach as required by law.
9. Children
The Site and the Guide are intended for adults engaged in business or professional activities related to Minnesota cannabis law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Third-Party Links
The Site and the Guide may link to third-party websites (such as the Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management or the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Review their privacy policies before providing them with any information.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. If we make material changes, we will notify customers by email and post a notice on the Site.
